Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman, a well-known pace duo, played for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL this season. Now, Bangladeshi Pacer Taskin Ahmed and Pathirana will play for Colombo Strikers in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Colombo Strikers have picked Bangladeshi pacer Taskin Ahmed for his base price of USD 50,000, while Pathrina was picked for a record-breaking price of USD USD 120,000 in the auction taking place in Colombo.
Taskin Ahmed is now in the USA as a Vice-Captain of the Bangladesh T20 Squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. He was the top performer in the last T20 series against Zimbabwe, taking 8 wickets in 4 matches at an economy rate of just 5.
Hence, the performance paid him well, but other Bangladeshi Cricketer Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das and Towhid Hridoy, Tamim Iqbal, Shoriful Islam, Risad Hosen went unsold in the auction.
Matheesha Pathirana was a solid performer for CSK this season, taking 14 Wickets in just 6 matches but he was ruled out due to illness. He has been included in the Sri Lanka T20 World Cup squad, where he will be one of the biggest threats to the opponent.
