Lamine Yamal has added another milestone to his remarkable career after helping Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.

At 19 years and 6 days old, the Barcelona star became the joint fourth-youngest player to win a World Cup, matching Brazil’s Coutinho, who achieved the feat in 1962.

Despite carrying a hamstring injury into the tournament, Yamal played 615 minutes and scored once, against Saudi Arabia. While his numbers were modest, his pace, creativity and work rate made him one of Spain’s most influential players throughout the competition.

Only four players have won the World Cup at a younger age: Pelé (17 years, 249 days), Ronaldo Nazário (17 years, 298 days), Giuseppe Bergomi (18 years, 174 days) and Coutinho (19 years, 6 days).

Spain also celebrated another young champion, with defender Pau Cubarsí lifting the trophy at 19 years and 178 days, placing him among the youngest World Cup winners in history.

By leading Spain to world glory, Yamal not only secured football’s biggest prize but also cemented his place among the game’s brightest young stars.
