English Premier League (EPL) is going to experience new technology. Premier League authorities confirmed that the Referee will wear a Camera on his head during the Crystal Palace and Manchester United match.
This will be the first time using ‘RefCam’ in Premier League history. The recorded footage of the match will not be viewable live but it will be broadcast at a later date.
Former Premier League match Referee Dermot Gallagher hoped,’ I think it will show a lot of things people never realise. It will open people’s eyes a little bit. It’s interesting to see what it’s for and how educational it will be’ he told Sky Sports.
Man Utd and Crystal Palace match Referee Jarred Gillett previously went viral for wearing a microphone during the match. He was the first man to wear this technology during the final match in Australia A-League in 2019. Since then, he has been widely praised for officiating the match.
Bundesliga experienced a technology which has audio and footage from referee Daniel Schlager in February. The Premier League is now going to touch the same thing of technology. If it is all ok, RefCam is going to create history in the Football world.
