Saudi Arabia’s Pro League is preparing another major move in its effort to transform the kingdom into a global football destination, with Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah emerging as the league’s latest high-profile target ahead of the January transfer window.

After securing global stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema in recent years, Saudi clubs are now focused on the 33-year-old Egyptian international, one of the most recognizable figures in world football.

Source close to Saudi football have told Gulf News that the league is willing to take “whatever steps are necessary” to secure Salah’s signature, with preliminary preparations already under way among leading clubs.

Speculation over Salah’s future has intensified amid reported tensions at Liverpool. The forward was left out of the starting lineup in recent matches, including against Leeds United, and was later sidelined following a critical interview ahead of a game against Inter Milan.
