ICC has ended the ongoing uncertainty over Bangladesh’s participation in the tournament, which will begin in India and Sri Lanka on 7th February.

Why Scotland, and what it means?
Scotland have been given a place in the World Cup instead of Bangladesh based on their performance in recent ICC tournaments. In the 2024 T20 World Cup, they finished tied with England in Group B but trailed in third place on net run rate.
In the 2022 T20 World Cup, they beat West Indies in the group stage but ultimately failed to make it to the Super Twelve. And in the 2021 World Cup, Scotland topped the group stage by defeating Bangladesh and made it to the Super Twelve.
Scotland will be in Group C as an alternative to Bangladesh. They will play West Indies (February 7), Italy (February 9) and England (February 14) in Kolkata, before travelling to Mumbai to take on Nepal on February 17.
